Robotic pool cleaner recalls and remedies
Every robotic pool cleaner recall we found: model, hazard, remedy.
How we rate: we don't test units. We compare published specs, named third-party measurements and owner reports, and score pool fit on a public method. Methodology
Summary: we found 4 recall notices for robotic pool cleaners across 3 brands: 3 from the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and 1 from the UK. Every one concerns a battery or charging equipment. In all three CPSC recalls, the remedy is a free robot of a different model. Zodiac’s recall works differently: Zodiac’s own recall page offers a free replacement battery block for the affected cleaners. We haven’t confirmed that the Zodiac recall applies in the US. A separate Australian notice for the Zodiac FreeRider FR1000 iQ is known to us only from search-result text, so it’s listed under Zodiac and not in the count.
Last checked: CPSC recall database searched Oct 15, 2026. The CPSC and UK OPSS notices and Zodiac’s recall page were re-read Oct 16, 2026. We saw the Australian (ACCC) 2023 notice only as search-result text because the PDF returned an error. We haven’t queried the EU Safety Gate portal directly.
Check your robot
| Brand | Status | Go to |
|---|---|---|
| Aiper | 2 CPSC recalls (Elite Pro GS100, Seagull Pro) | Aiper |
| WYBOT | 1 CPSC recall (Osprey 700 Max, WYBOT S1) | WYBOT |
| Zodiac (Fluidra) | 1 UK notice, 1 Australian notice (FR1000 iQ); US scope not confirmed | Zodiac |
| Beatbot, Dolphin / Maytronics, Mammotion, Betta, Polaris-branded | No recall found | No recall found |
Brand and model both matter. The recalled WYBOT S1 (WY200) is a different robot from the Aiper Scuba S1, which is made by another brand and isn’t recalled. That’s why we always write the brand with the model.

WYBOT Osprey 700 Max and WYBOT S1
- Models: Osprey 700 Max (model numbers WY3312MAX and WY100MAX) and WYBOT S1 (model number WY200).
- Serial numbers covered (per CPSC): Osprey 700 Max: WY100M230117XXXX, WY100M230127XXXX, WY100M230130XXXX and WY100M230318XXXX. WYBOT S1:
WY200-230328XXXXandW200**230330XXXX, as printed by CPSC. Only these serial ranges are covered. - Regulator and ID: CPSC 26-372 · Date: April 9, 2026
- Units: about 5,000
- Hazard (CPSC): “The lithium-ion battery in the recalled pool vacuums can overheat, posing burn and fire hazards.” CPSC reports 10 cases of the vacuums overheating or catching fire, both while charging and while not charging. Nine caused property damage, and no injuries were reported.
- Remedy: stop using the unit and contact Wybotics for a free replacement WYBOT C2, sent with a free return label. The replacement ships within 15 days of Wybotics receiving the recalled unit.
- Where and when sold (CPSC): Amazon.com, BestBuy.com and wybotpool.com, for $500 to $700. The WYBOT S1 was sold from April 2023 to September 2024 and the Osprey 700 Max from April 2023 to November 2024.
- How to check your unit: compare the model number and serial number on your robot with the ranges above, then confirm on the CPSC notice or WYBOT’s recall page (wybotpool.com/pages/recall-notice).
- Not covered: the WYBOT C2 is the replacement unit and isn’t named in the recall. The notice doesn’t name the C2 Vision or C1 either.
Aiper Seagull Pro ZT6001
- Regulator and ID: CPSC 25-187 · Date: March 20, 2025
- Model: Aiper Seagull Pro, model number ZT6001.
- Units: about 32,660 in the US, plus about 2,530 sold in Canada.
- Hazard (CPSC): the vacuum “has a large current adapter that can overheat, posing burn and fire hazards.” CPSC reports 19 cases of the vacuums melting, smoking or catching fire while charging. Five caused property damage, and no injuries were reported.
- Remedy: stop using the unit and contact Aiper for a free replacement Aiper Scuba S1, sent with a free return label. The replacement ships within 15 days of Aiper receiving the recalled unit.
- Where and when sold (CPSC): Best Buy, Home Depot, Lowe’s and Walmart stores, plus aiper.com, Amazon.com and those stores’ websites, from March 2023 to May 2024, for $700 to $900.
- How to check your unit: look for model number ZT6001 on your robot and compare it with the notice.
Zodiac (Fluidra) Freerider RF 5200 iQ and related models
- Regulator and ID: UK OPSS, Product Safety Database case 2409-0066 · Date: March 6, 2025
- Model in the UK notice: Zodiac Freerider RF 5200 iQ, batch numbers 4923, 5123 and 5223.
- Hazard (UK notice): “The product presents a risk of fire as it is insufficiently watertight.” Zodiac’s recall page adds that water can get into the battery block, which, “together with other external factors”, can cause the battery block to overheat.
- Action (UK notice): the product has been recalled from end users. Owners are asked to check whether their cleaner is affected and to stop using it.
- Remedy (Zodiac’s recall page): a free replacement of the battery block, not a new robot. Fluidra collects the cleaner, fits a new battery block and returns it. Affected serial numbers are 18 characters long and start with “ALCA”.
- Other models on Zodiac’s page: zodiac-poolcare.com/support/recall also lists the Freerider RF 5600 iQ and RF 5400 iQ, the XA-Li 5245 iQ, 52 XA-Li iQ and XA-Li 5230 iQ, and the Freedom CNX-Li 52 iQ and CNX-Li 5220 iQ. The page carries no date and names no recall territory.
- Units: not published.
- US status: not confirmed. A CPSC database title search for “Zodiac” returned no results on Oct 15, 2026, and we found no US regulator notice. That means we can’t say the recall applies in the US, and we can’t say it doesn’t. Neither the UK notice nor Zodiac’s page mentions a US filing.
- Polaris: Polaris belongs to the same Zodiac/Fluidra group. Zodiac’s list names Freedom CNX-Li models, not the Polaris Freedom Plus. We found no CPSC recall for Polaris-branded cleaners.
- Australia, a separate notice (FreeRider FR1000 iQ): the ACCC notice at productsafety.gov.au/node/32157, updated September 5, 2024, covers the Zodiac FreeRider FR1000 iQ (supplied by Fluidra), with 18-character serial numbers starting “ACLA03133”. Per the ACCC notice as summarised in search results (the notice page returned an error to our checks), a manufacturing defect in the battery enclosure can let water in, which can overheat the battery and cause a fire. Owners are told to stop using and charging the cleaner, and Fluidra collects and replaces it at no cost. SPLASH Magazine (secondary, Sep 2, 2024) reports 475 units, sold in Australia only. It’s a different model list from the UK notice. US scope not confirmed: we found no CPSC notice.
Aiper Elite Pro GS100
- Regulator and ID: CPSC 23-784 · Date: August 24, 2023
- Model: Aiper Elite Pro, model number GS100.
- Units: about 22,000 in the US, plus about 50 sold in Canada and about 4 in Mexico.
- Hazard (CPSC): when the charging cord is plugged into the device without the adapter, or directly into the charging port on the machine, “the battery can overheat and short circuit, posing burn and fire hazards.” CPSC reports 17 cases of overheating, including one report of a minor burn to a consumer’s fingertip that didn’t need medical treatment. No property damage was reported.
- Remedy: stop using the unit and contact Aiper for a free replacement Aiper Seagull Pro, sent with a free return label. The replacement ships within 7 days of Aiper receiving the recalled unit.
- Where and when sold (CPSC): online at aiper.com, Amazon.com and other websites, from January 2023 to May 2023, for $600 to $800.
- Australia: an ACCC (productsafety.gov.au) recall advertisement dated October 6, 2023 covers the same model. We saw its text only in a search result, because the PDF returned an error when we tried to open it. In that search-result text, the advertisement gives sale dates of January 5 to July 18, 2023, says an incident caused an injury, and tells owners to stop using the unit and return it for a replacement.
- How to check your unit: look for model number GS100 on your robot and compare it with the notice.
The sale prices on this page are the ranges given in the regulators’ notices. They help you identify your unit and aren’t current prices.

Both Aiper notices count units sold in Canada, and the Elite Pro notice also counts units sold in Mexico. We haven’t found the matching Health Canada notices, so we don’t link them.
No recall found
“No recall found” means we searched the register named and found nothing. It isn’t a safety rating.
| Brand | Searched | Register and limits |
|---|---|---|
| Beatbot | Oct 15, 2026 | CPSC recall database, title search: 0 results. Not searched by brand in the ACCC or EU registers. |
| Dolphin / Maytronics | Oct 15, 2026 | CPSC title search for “Maytronics”: 0 results. “Dolphin”: 1 result, a 1995 pool float, not a cleaner. |
| Mammotion | Oct 15, 2026 | CPSC title search: 0 results. |
| Polaris-branded cleaners | Oct 15, 2026 | CPSC title search for “Polaris”: the results we read were off-road vehicles and snowmobiles, none a pool cleaner. We didn’t read the whole list. |
| Betta | Earlier web search only | The web search found only an unrelated fish-bowl notice. We haven’t searched CPSC by name. |
| Aiper models other than the Elite Pro GS100 and Seagull Pro | Oct 15, 2026 | Neither Aiper notice names the Scuba S1, S3, V3, X1, X1 Pro Max or SE. The CPSC title search found only the two recalls above. |
| WYBOT models other than the Osprey 700 Max and WYBOT S1 | Oct 15, 2026 | The CPSC search found only 26-372. We didn’t search every model name. |
Limits of our search. The CPSC search matches recall titles. A recall filed under a company name that doesn’t include the brand would be missed, and we didn’t search every model name. We haven’t queried the EU Safety Gate portal directly, because it needs a browser. A general web search found no alert for any of these brands, but we don’t claim there are no EU alerts.
Unresolved notices
We don’t count these above because we haven’t found an official notice for them.
- WYBOT A1: The Pool Nerd reports an Amazon alert for the WYBOT A1. We found no official record, and the CPSC title search found only 26-372.
The pattern
- Every notice concerns a battery or charging equipment. In the notices’ own words: a lithium-ion battery that can overheat, a large current adapter that can overheat, a battery that can overheat and short circuit when charged without the adapter, and a product that isn’t watertight enough. We don’t speculate beyond that.
- The three CPSC remedies are a different model. Aiper Elite Pro GS100 owners were offered a Seagull Pro, which was later recalled itself. Seagull Pro owners were offered the Aiper Scuba S1. WYBOT owners were offered the WYBOT C2. None of the three CPSC notices offers a refund or a repair. Zodiac is the exception: its recall page offers a replacement battery block fitted to the owner’s existing cleaner.
What each recall replaced
- Charge as the manual says. Use the supplied charger and follow your manual’s charging instructions. As CPSC describes it, the 2023 Aiper recall involves a charging cord plugged in without the adapter. We plan a guide to the charging instructions in makers’ manuals.
How we track recalls
We search the CPSC recall database before each model page publishes and date every search on this page. ACCC (productsafety.gov.au) and UK OPSS notices are listed when we find them, and we say when a notice couldn’t be opened. We don’t yet search those two registers by brand, and we haven’t queried the EU Safety Gate portal. Each entry uses the regulator’s hazard wording and links to the notice. Method: how we rate. Changes: corrections. Model pages show the same recall status, for example the Aiper Scuba S1 and the WYBOT C2. Runtime data for these models is on the battery data page.
FAQ
Is the Aiper Scuba S1 recalled? We found no recall for the Aiper Scuba S1 itself (CPSC searched Oct 15, 2026). It’s the replacement unit in CPSC 25-187, the Aiper Seagull Pro recall. Aiper has 2 CPSC recalls, both for other models.
Is the WYBOT C2 recalled? We found no recall for the WYBOT C2. It’s the replacement unit in CPSC 26-372, which covers the Osprey 700 Max and the WYBOT S1.
Is the WYBOT S1 the same as the Aiper Scuba S1? No. They’re made by different brands, and only the WYBOT S1 (WY200, specific serial ranges) is recalled.
What should I do if my robot is on a recall list? Open the notice for your model and follow it. All three CPSC notices tell owners to stop using the recalled unit and contact the maker. The UK Zodiac notice asks owners to check whether their cleaner is affected and to stop using it. We summarize what the regulators say and don’t add safety instructions of our own.
Why do pool robot recalls involve batteries? The notices name the hazards: a battery that can overheat, an adapter that can overheat, a battery that can short circuit when charged without the adapter, and a product that isn’t watertight enough. They don’t explain the cause beyond that, and neither do we.
Do recalls give refunds? Not in the three CPSC notices we recorded. Each offers a free replacement robot of a different model. Zodiac’s recall page offers a free replacement battery block.
